4th Of July Gift Baskets Posted By: wicker

Everyone gets impatient waiting for fireworks on the Fourth of July. Both children and adults who are perfectly capable of entertaining themselves on a normal day suddenly have no idea what to do while waiting until at least an hour after sunset. With the long summer days, a gorgeous sunset could occur well after 9pm (depending on where you are), so be prepared to entertain yourself and your group of friends and loved ones all day and into the night with some of Gift Baskets!
If you have gotten invited to a pot-luck party for Fourth of July, and have no idea what to bring, then check out Gift Basket , Patriotic Gift Box. This gift has enough goodies to feed an army (not really). Seriously is does have many snacks to feed a small group of people, and it will be enjoyed by everyone of them. So, celebrate this coming holiday with fun, food, and friends.
Here are some more structured games. A lot of extended families have one or two of these games that they all enjoy playing together, all of which are classics that have been handed down over the generations:
Volleyball
Croquet
Softball
Basketball
Kickball
Touch football
Horseshoes
Shuffleboard
Then there are the less-structured games, which generally involve a lot of kids running around and yelling at the top of their lungs, with a light frosting of rules over the whole mess to justify their behavior. Many of these games have been handed down, under one name or another, since the nation was born:
Freeze tag. When youre caught, you freeze; the last person to be caught is “it” next time.
Ghost in the Graveyard. The “ghost” hides; the other players count off “one o clock, two oclock,” etc. When they reach midnight, they look for the ghost. The first one to find the ghost yells, “Ghost in the Graveyard.” The ghost chases the other players as they run back to base. Anyone who is caught becomes a ghost, too, during the next round.
Pom pom tag. One person is it. Everyone else has to cross between two poles (or bushes, etc.) past “it” to get to the base. When “it” yells “pom pom,” everyone runs across. Anyone “it” catches is “it” and has to help catch people in the next round.
Capture the flag. Split into two teams and declare two bases of similar ease to get at. Put a beach towel (or something similarly bright and sturdy) at each base. The goal is to be the first team to get the other teams flag back to your base without getting caught (as in tag). (This is an excellent, if somewhat spooky and dangerous, game to play at night.)
Red rover. Split into two teams and hold hands in two lines, facing each other. The team captain yells, “Red rover, red rover, send so-and-so right over.” This person charges into the other team, trying to break through the line of hands. If the line breaks, the person goes back to their original team. If the line holds, the person is captured and has to join the other team.
You can also add any other games that you remember from your childhood. More than likely, the kids will know the games and have played it already, under a different name and with slightly different rules. Youll be entertained for hours, relaxing and watching the kids have fun. Or better yet, youll be blowing away the competition (not literally, or course!) with your favorite gift basket or toy basket while you wait for the brilliant fireworks display to light up the country in a blaze of freedom!
